Andie Nicolay

childhood ambition: rock dancer (like in the Thriller video)

first job: warehouse worker at a medical video plant

proudest moment: My proudest moment in librarianship was receiving the Linda Richardson Award in recognition of intellectual and personal achievement upon graduating from library school (Queens College GSLIS).

biggest challenge: keeping up with emerging library trends, and putting good ideas into practice.

inspiration: my mom, a staffer at Haddonfield Public Library in NJ. She never tires of talking shop and sharing ideas.

currently reading: The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami

most surprising thing about being a librarian/library leader: how frequently we reassure people they’re not interrupting when we’re on the desk and they have questions.

I love being a librarian because: We create community just by being here, and on top of that it’s our job to promote education and entertainment in as many ways as we can fathom!
