ABOUT THE TEAM

Kimberly Brown-Harden is a Reference Librarian in the Indiana Division of the Indiana State Library. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a 2006 graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis with a Masters of Library and Information Science. She is also a 2007-2008 graduate of the Leading Edge Librarian Academy. She can be reached at kbrown-harden@library.in.gov.

Jade Alburo is the Librarian for Southeast Asian Studies at UCLA’s Young Research Library. Prior to joining UCLA, she was a Reference and Collection Processing Librarian in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division of the Library of Congress and a Chesapeake Information and Research Library Alliance (CIRLA) Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution Libraries. She also worked for the International Children’s Digital Library and the Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) Folklore and Language Archive. Jade holds an MLS from the University of Maryland, College Park, an MA in Folklore from MUN, and a BA in English and Religious Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She has several publications and presentations to her record and has received several scholarships and grants. She is an active member of the American Library Association (ALA), the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA). Jade is an ALA Spectrum Scholar, an ARL Diversity Scholar, and an ALA Emerging Leader.

Jenny Engstrom has recently been appointed to the position of Public Technology Training Coordinator at The New York Public Library, where she has worked as the Young Adult Librarian at the Muhlenberg Branch for the past two years. She holds a BA in English from Lafayette College and an MLS from Simmons College. Jenny is currently an MPA Candidate in Public and Nonprofit Management at New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service. She can be reached at jennifer_engstrom@nypl.org.

Carrie Wuensch-Harden is currently a Youth Services Librarian at the Lake Wales Public Library in Lake Wales, Florida. Carrie is a graduate of the University of South Florida’s MLS Program and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. This August she is moving to her hometown and will be the new Assistant Branch Manager of the South and North Branches of the La Crosse Public Library System. Michael Spelman recently became a Reference Librarian in the research library of the Boston Public Library, where he served as a Floating Librarian for the past year working with adult and youth populations in both the branches and the central library. He holds a Master of Science from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Simmons College and earned his BA in History from Beloit College.
