Jeff Thompson

Childhood ambition:To fly airplanes

First job: Busboy

Proudest moment: Conquering my fear of heights at a “Ropes” course.

Biggest challenge: Myself-I’m always struggling to improve.

Inspiration: St. Benedict, and the monastic sense of duty.

Currently reading: “Austrian Cinema: A History” by Robert Von Dassinowsky.

Most surprising thing about being a library leader:
Truman’s maxim: “The Buck stops here,” really applies to Library Leaders. Being responsible means you do what it takes-whatever it takes-to meet the goal. I’ve unclogged more toilets in the 3 years I’ve been a Library Director, than in all of my previous 43 years.

I love being a librarian because: I love the fact that my job allows me -in my own small way- to help my fellow human beings.
