Lorelle Swader

childhood ambition: To be a PhotoJournalist

first job: Bank Counter for the Local newspapers collection Saturday (once a month the paper boys (or girls) brought in their money and we would count it at the bank and deposit it.

proudest moment: Following in my mother’s footsteps by earning my college education.

biggest challenge: Being from an underrepresented group in a profession that is not so well known. I have frequently been in the “minority”. (Constant comment “I DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEED A MASTERS DEGREE FOR THAT”)

inspiration: My faith.

currently reading: Some new business management textbook. I have lots going at one once

most surprising thing about being a library leader: That I am at ALA and not where I thought I would be 20 years ago. (I started out as a law librarian)

I love being a librarian because: We connect people to ideas.
